Kishan Uikey

Date of Birth: 1 January 1980 Address: Patangarh , District Dindori, Madhya Pradesh  Kishan earns a living working as a tailor in his village. He has a keen interest in the arts and his paintings express the customs and culture of his tribal community. Through his paintings, he articulates the fascinating stories which been passed down the ages in the Gond tribe.  Kishan learnt the basics of painting by watching other artists at work. He participated in a workshop where he acquired the skills of his craft. Since then, his paintings have been displayed in an exhibition organised by TRIFED (The Tribal Cooperative Marketing Development Federation of India, a national-level apex organization functioning under the administrative control of Ministry of Tribal Affairs, Govt. of India) where they were sold out. He has been commissioned to create paintings which are on display in the Collectorate of Dindori District, Madhya Pradesh, Umaria District, Amarkantak, Jabalpur, New Delhi and the Farm House owned by Ramdev Food Products Pvt. Ltd. In Ahmedabad.

Rahul Shyam

Date of Birth: 10 July 1988 Address: Patangarh , District Dindori, Madhya Pradesh  Rahul was blessed to learn his craft from Bhajju Shyam, his older brother and one of the foremost and renowned modern-day practitioners of Gond art. Rahul grew up in the milieu of these paintings and assimilated the traditions and heritage of his community, which find expression in his art. Through his work, he attempts to describe life in the tribe and the stories of the forest and in doing so, keep alive their cultural heritage and identity.  Rahul has painted a wall of the Dam on the Narmada River in Jabalpur. Working under a commission from The Saffron Saga, his paintings on fabrics have been transformed into wonderful sarees, stoles and other items of clothing. He has also participated in an exhibition organised by TRIFED.  Rahul is completing a distance education course in Applied & Visual Arts while working as an artist.

Jyoti Uikey

Date of Birth: 7 November 1989 Address: Patangarh , District Dindori, Madhya Pradesh In addition to her work as a home-maker, Jyoti devotes time to her passion of art. She works on her paintings in Patangarh village and is very happy to display her works to lovers of art when they visit the village. She paints on paper and on canvas, in addition to her frescoes on walls. Her paintings bring to life the customs, traditions and ancient stories of the Gond community.  Jyoti is a self-taught artist, having acquired the basic skills of her craft by watching other artists at work. Since then, her paintings have been displayed in an exhibition organised by TRIFED (The Tribal Cooperative Marketing Development Federation of India, a national-level apex organization functioning under the administrative control of Ministry of Tribal Affairs, Govt. of India) where they were sold out.
