Nobody knew the name of the King of the Jungle. Even the Lioness would address him as “My Lord”.
 
The Lion and the Lioness summoned all the animals and described a challenge to them. Whosoever among them was the first to discover the true name of the King of the Jungle would be rewarded with a royal citation.
 
Days and months elapsed but none of the animals came close to unravelling the secret.
 
One day, the Lion and the Lioness went down to the river to drink some water. The Lioness’s foot got stuck in a hole, inside which lived the Tortoise. In her distress, the Lioness called out the Lion’s name, seeking help.
 
This is how the Tortoise discovered the true identity of the King of the Jungle and earned his reward.
